Meet Isabella Crane

I want you to meet Isabella Crane, my new dress form.

As you know, several fellow bloggers, have found really cute dress forms lately. (of course I was jealous)

I have been looking for one, for awhile now. Last Sunday at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, for instance, I missed one" by that much"!

I found one at the local thriftshop, but the ladies there wouldn't sell it to me. They said that they would be using it, to display dresses. And they would, never ever sell it.

Two of my favorite shops, in Ventura had them too, but not for sale.

So Monday afternoon, I decided to go about 20 minutes away, to this really great Antique Mall, in Agoura Hills.

The first shop that I checked had several old dress forms, at really HIGH prices!!

Then I found Isabella!! YAY!! She was exactly the one, that I had been looking for. She was also 20% off. YAY again!! So the rest is history. I believe that I was meant to have her. She is my Mother's Day present, from my husband Mark.

Now for the name. I told my daughter Amanda, that I wanted to, name my dress form. Well, the first thing she said was, that I need a pet! Then she came up with, Isabella Crane. (sounds like a Soap Opera name). It is a reference, to Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, of Sleepy Hollow. Hence, the no head.

Amanda, always comes up with, good ideas like that. Even though Ichabod, was not the headless guy.

If you can see the necklace she is wearing, I've had it since I was little. It is an antique, that an Aunt had given to me, with a picture of my grandparents inside.

I thought that you might also like to see, the new banner, that I made for my office. Maybe it will inspire you to make one too. (Inspiration Friday)

I hope all of you, have a wonderful weekend.

Your dress form is gorgeous! What a great find. My daughter(the-french-nest) spotted one last weekend at a garage sale. We were thrilled :-}as we've been looking for one for the longest time.
Love your 'Dream' banner too.

Beautiful dress mold and I think the name fits her perfectly. My mum and I recently found "the one" for us and we are looking forward to shabby chic-ing her!

I also love the "Dream" banner you created for your office...c'est magnifique!

Isabella looks great...I've got my mind on one of those too. I've seen them decorated with small picture frames, and I've been contemplating that for my bedroom. Your banner looks great too. Enjoy your weekend!

LOL...my dress form is named "Giselle". She is all metal and not nearly as nice as Isabella Crane.
Maybe I will make a banner too, thanks for the inspiration.

Welcome Isabella! That name has significance for us, my daughter's name is Isabelle but, everyone I mean everyone calls her Isabella! We might as well go ahead and change her birth certificate. One thing stopping us her middle name is Lorna and I feel Isabella Lorna might be a bit much to saddle a small child with!Ha!

As usual great finds!

I had a dress form for years that looked very much like yours. I was clearing out stuff I didn't use and listed it on eBay several months ago. I sort of wish I had kept it! i didn't realise how hard they are to find.

I love her! Miss Crane that is. Tell your lovely daughter that she's very clever although we expect nothing less seeing as your her Mom.
I like the banner too. How did you make that?? Are the step by step instructions coming soon?

Its a pleasure to meet you, Isabella. :)

She's a beauty!
Mine is one of the adjustable dress forms. I like the kind that you found a little better.
I'm always keeping my eyes open for one like that.

Hi! Rosemary - thanks for visiting my blog and I'm glad you enjoy my garden - there will be treats with the roses in the summer.
A few years ago my husband was transporting a dress form from my Aunts house. For a friend of mine - I do not sew. He was driving the 300 miles alone so put the form in the passenger seat and put his hat on top.!!
