New Flea Market Finds!

Hi All!!
In between staring at the new baby this past weekend, we managed to get in a couple of flea markets.
On Saturday morning we went up to Carpinteria to a small once a month flea market. It's held to raise money for the museum there. I saw this old cabinet, and it called to me. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but I asked the price anyway. The guy was really nice, and explained to me how this piece came out of an old house on the east coast.
It was all original paint, which is crackling and chipping nicely, just the way I like it. The glass is that old wavy kind that I love!!
So when my husband came walking up, I said I really like this, and to my amazement he didn't say "where are you going to put that"? He said to the guy is $250 your best price, and the guy, come to find out later named Chuck, said how about $215? My husband said to me do you want it for $215, and of course I said yes!!
Chuck even said he would deliver it if it didn't fit in my car, but it did!!
So I spent the day yesterday cleaning it, and trying to get it in the right position in my living room. I had to move another piece into the guest room, and give a chair away that was in the guest room, but it's working out.
I am still merchandising it with goodies, some of which were found on Sunday at the Ventura flea market.
The lampshade came from Jennifer Grey's booth. It was just a plain old wire lampshade, which I wrapped in burlap and embellished with an old rhinestone piece. The 2 old goldish frames came from my friend Karen's booth. The zinc box at the bottom came from the Carpinteria Flea Market as well. Apparently it was an old ammo box. (I needed a place for my ammo)
So I'm still tweaking my cabinet and playing around with where to put the cords and plugs and all that good stuff, but it's a lot of fun!!
I am really getting into the zinc and burlap for some reason. I think I like the colors and textures.
Anyway, I am rambling on here, so have a great day!!!
Chat again soon.
Love,
Rosemary

Rosemary....that was a great price for that cabinet. I think men don't mind buying furniture...it's practical.....it's all that other stuff we love they don't get. Though by husband never says that I have to admit.
Love your ramblings!!! lol
Glad to hear the ivy still doing well!

Hi Rosemary I came to your blog via Bella Dreams so thought I would pop over and check it out.
Boy do I ever hear where are you going to put that! Men just don't get it. We buy first figure out where later!
Love that cabinet! Course I love chippy old painted things. Traci

Oh my, this is your funniest post yet. You sly thing, all the dry humor you slipped in! "Staring at the baby" and "I need a place to keep my ammo" -- ROFL!!!
