Junk Queen!

Hi all. Happy Friday!
Hope you all have a nice weekend planned.
We are heading to the Ventura flea market bright and early on Sunday morning.
In honor of that, and me being such a junk collector, I made a Junk Queen crown. I used bits and pieces of things I had sitting around my studio. The base is a piece of rain gutter screen. I used some linen, old game pieces, old buttons, scrap metal pieces, etc. You get the picture.
It was fun using up some junk!
I hope I find more good junk at the flea market. It's not only fun to shop, but it's fun to visit as well. Some of my friends will be shopping, others will be selling.
It's always nice to see them.
Tonight we are having movie night at our daughter's house, and tomorrow night dinner out with friends. Sunday the flea market, and family dinner.
I will be playing with baby Jake the whole time I'm sure. He is 5 months now, and loves to play. By Monday I will need a rest from the weekend.
Whatever your plans, enjoy!

Queen Tee Shirt!

Happy Thursday!
I have been making tee shirts lately. Simply because I can't find the ones I want in shops. I love old photographs, so I made this Queen tee shirt. I added the crystals, because you have to have bling on your shirt.
I also made a new bag to take with me to the flea market. I love this graphic. The little queen sparrow.
I may have to start selling my shirts as people keep asking me where I get my shirts.
They stop and ask, so maybe I should sell them. Who knows, a whole new product for me to make.
Anyway, have a wonderful day. We are between rainstorms in Southern California. It's bright and sunny today, but not for long.

Playing With The Tree

Hi all!
Hope you are having a good week so far. It's dreary and drizzly today.
I started playing around with my tree this morning. Thought you might like to see it so far. I put a nest inside, made a burlap bow with rhinestone pin at the top. I wrapped some birch branches around it, and stuffed it with some dried hydrangea that I saved from my yard. I am still playing, but decided to give you a peek. Knowing me, I will probably change the whole thing tomorrow.
I got fun news yesterday. I won a giveaway from Laura's blog, 52 Flea. I was very surprised, because I don't win things very often, and there were a lot of entries. Lucky me!! If you have never checked out 52 Flea, go now. It's on my top 10 list of the best blogs ever. Laura is the sweetest lady, and so talented. You will love it.
Have a wonderful day!!

Christmas Tree?

Hi all, hope you had a great weekend.
We all like to repurpose, recycle etc. While antiquing on Saturday with my husband, we came upon this, I think Christmas tree. I instantly had to have it. It was one of those things. It is made from an antique stand of some sort, rusty wire, and chicken wire. How cool!! I figured it would look cute with white lights at all times of the year. I could decorate it and redecorate it for different holidays. Now the problem is where to put it, or store it til Christmas. Not sure yet, so it's sitting atop my dining table waiting for me to figure it out. It's a great piece of folk/altered art or whatever you want to call it. I just like it. We won't discuss the price. We got the guy to come down a bit. I walked away, but my husband knew that I liked it, so being the guy he is got it for me. Later that night at home he said to me,"good eye", so I guess he likes it too.
If you have any ideas, and I know you do, feel free to tell me what you think I should do with it, or where to put it. Keep it out all year or only at Christmas?
Have a great week!

A Very Important Date!

Next month the new Alice In Wonderland movie is coming out, so I thought I would make an Alice crown. If you have seen some of the coming attractions from the movie, you know it looks weird. Tim Burton is known for that, and what a great Mad Hatter Johnny Depp will be. I guess we will have to wait and see.
I know it comes out in March and it's in 3D. I'm sure it will be very popular, as all things Alice will be.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, don't fall down any rabbit holes, or drink any shrinking potions.

Birthday Bash!

Hi all, and happy Wednesday!!
A pink and brown birthday bash! This is a custom order I have been working on this week. The cake is fat free and sugar free!!
I just love the colors pink and brown together!! It is going to be a fun celebration for a lucky little girl.
The cake even opens up to reveal some white shred and a pink wish ticket inside each layer. Pretty fun! I suppose you could even hide some small little trinkets and candies inside too!
These were fun to create and make! I love the challenge of coming up with someones vision, and making them happy!! I hope they are! My only instructions were, pink and brown dots, white, and glitter, the hat was to match.
Now I'm off to make an Alice In Wonderland crown.
Enjoy your day!!

Vintage Paper Fair

Hi all. Hope you had a nice weekend, and a very nice Valentine's Day!
I went to a Vintage Paper Fair. I had never been to one before, I didn't even know there was such a thing. I can't even remember where I had picked up the ad for it. It was months ago, and I had it on my bulletin board for the longest time. I remember telling my husband that is what I wanted to do on Valentine's Day. So we did.
It was at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. It was quite small, but there was more paper than you could ever go through in your life. Boxes, tables, floors, just covered with ephemera. Post cards, travel, magazines, tickets, programs, cards, matchbooks, Valentines, photos, stamps, anything paper related. It was exhausting going through everything. I'm sure I didn't see half of what was there. A lady told me some people spend their entire time at just one booth going through every postcard.
I was there for 2 hours and that was enough for me. After the paper extravaganza, we ventured down the road to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. We got there rather late for a flea market, plus it was 88 yesterday in Pasadena. Extremely hot for February, but crazy Southern California. This is what happens at least once every winter. Anyway I got nothing at the Flea Market except an old clock face for a project.
As you can see from the pictures, I got some great paper at the fair. A McCall's from 1927 very cool, and it just so happens to have Alice in Wonderland on the cover.
I got a few cute postcards including this great Halloween one for my Halloween collection. That was the most expensive item that I bought, the rest were rather reasonable. It was really fun for me to look through all the old photos etc. My husband was very patient, and let me look as long as I wanted. He went through very fast, then sat down to read while I shopped. He did enjoy the flea market. We both love the Rose Bowl. We ended up our Valentine's Day, having dinner with Amanda, Joe and Jake. A perfect way to end our day.
So enjoy the photos of my paper finds.
Have a great week!
