Happy New Year! 2010

Hi all!
Hope you had a great Christmas!!
I have been super busy with the holidays! I have been taking a little blogging vacation. I just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year!
Hope you have fun plans for New Year's Eve. We will be here at home, probably watching a movie and staying cozy.
Tomorrow is my husband's birthday, so we will be going out to celebrate.
I can't believe another year has gone by.
We had a fun Christmas despite the fact our new little baby Jake had a horrible ear infection, and had to go to the ER on Christmas Eve. He is a lot better now.
Check out Baby Balice Blog on my side bar to see new photos.
I hope Santa brought you everything you wanted.
Happy New Year!!!

Merry & Bright!

Hi all.
I'm sure you are very busy these last few days before Christmas.
I was taking a little break the other day, and I was going through my Merry & Bright book. It's put out by Country Living. If you haven't seen it, it's a really good one. It has beautiful ideas, and photographs for the season.
I tried to recreate the cover a bit, with my old bottles and vintage ornaments, and mercury glass beads.
I really enjoy looking at this book over and over.
Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!!
We are invited to a holiday party tonight. Hope you have wonderful plans too!!

It's A Blizzard!

Not really, just snowball cookies.
Sorry I haven't been visiting, I'm up to my elbows in shopping, wrapping, making last minute orders, and baking snowball cookies.
I'm sure you have all been just as busy. Every time I look at the counter on my sidebar, it makes me nervous. I think we all work a bit better under pressure.
That is what my friend Carole said to me. If you want to see a beautiful blog visit Carole.
Well, I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I hope you are all having a wonderful week. By the way, we are having an unseasonably warm day today in Southern California. It's 75 today! This happens sometimes in December, but it doesn't last.
Cold weather and rain will be back in a few days.
Have a great rest of your day!

Jean Strikes Again!

Hi all!
I know you are all busy with holiday preparations, as I am.
Today amidst the chaos, a lovely surprise came in the mail from my friend Jean in Rhode Island.
She made this beautiful Christmas card, and she got me some lovely vintage tags and these ceramic NOEL angels from an antique shop. She saw them and thought of me. How nice is that? The angels are still in the original box. I love that! Vintage artwork is great.
They are so cute! It was so thoughtful and nice of her. I love them, and I will enjoy them every Christmas from now on, and every time I see them I will think of her.
Who knew from one crown order, we would become such good friends. Life is full of surprises.
I just want to say to Jean, thank you so much, I love these gifts, and the thought that went into them.
Now go about your holiday chores, and fun. Just wanted to say hello, and to share my surprise today.

It Was A Dark And Stormy Day.....

Hi all!
Hope you had a nice weekend.
I wanted to show you my decorated Christmas tree today, but it's dark and stormy. So I'm waiting for better light. I thought I would show you my Rhode Island Christmas decoration from my friend Jean. (You all know Jean by now) Jean sent this to me last Christmas. I love it, and I think my rooster does too!
I also wanted to show you some burlap wreaths I have been making today. It's a burlap Christmas this year. They are going to Sticks N Stones this week.
We really need rain here in Southern California, so I'm glad that it is dark and stormy today. I will show you my tree later in the week. It turned out very nice.
Back to the burlap!!

More Decorating

Hi all!
Hope you are having a good week.
I am still slowly decorating the house. Still need a tree, but that comes this weekend. The reindeer is a new addition. I bought him over the weekend at the cutest place called Shop Around The Corner in Simi Valley. I saw him, and I knew he had to come home with me, and no he isn't chocolate.
If you would like to see Thanksgiving photos of baby Jake please check out my daughter's blog. It's on my side bar, Baby Balice Blog.
The crown on top of my bust ladies head is a new Christmas crown I made.
Have a great day!!

It's Starting!!

Christmas decorating that is!!
I have boxes strewn all over the living room, and I'm trying to decide my look this year. I took a few photos so far. The living room will be done soon, so I will show you more, but for now since it's Dec 1, and who could believe that?? Here is what I have so far. It's a process, at least for me.
My husband did his part, and put up the outside lights. We still need a tree, but it's going well so far.
I hope you are enjoying this first day of Dec, and are having some fun with your decorations as well.
Let me just say for the living room, it's going to be a lot of silver mixed with rustic. So glittery, yet rustic, that is my thing this year.

Just A Glimpse

Hi All!!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
We had a really fun time, but I was so busy cooking, and getting things ready, I didn't have much time for picture taking. I'm sure there will be more photos on my daughter's blog sometime soon.
Anyway, here is a peek at my table, and I can't even take credit for the centerpiece.
My sweet husband came on on Tuesday with this lovely centerpiece he had made for me in Santa Monica. I added the flag.
I used burlap over my tablecloth this year, and I loved the rustic look. I think I am going to reuse it for a tree skirt around my Christmas tree.
The pretty Thanksgiving card was made by my friend Jean in Rhode Island. She always does such a great job on her cards!! Thanks Jean!
We all ate way too much, but we had a great time with my family, and my brother's family. They stayed with us, and it gave me a chance to pretend I owned a bed and breakfast. Everyone needs some pampering now and again.
I just got back from a tiny little decorating shopping trip. I will start my Christmas decorations tomorrow.
By the way, baby Jake survived his first Thanksgiving. He had a lot of attention from his older cousins and Great Aunt and Great Uncle. We now call them Gruncle and Grant. Thanks to my mom for helping me with the stuffing and gravy. Thanks to my daughter and son in law for the pies. My daughter also made the cutest turkey cupcakes.
Have a great Saturday night, and a nice Sunday.

I will try to remember to take some pictures. It's hard sometimes when you are the chief cook and bottle washer.

Branching Out!

Hi all!
Hope you are having a good week!
So, the woodland crown went over big with the lady who owns Sticks N Stones. So much so that she asked me to do some lampshades for her.
This is what I came up with. I always try to make items that if I were to see them, I would want to buy. It's like gift giving, I always buy things I would like to have, for other people.
I hope she likes them too!
It's a lot of work, and a whole process. A lot of glitter, glue, moss, sticks etc.
Since her shop is called Sticks N Stones, she went crazy for the sticks. I am working on a few more crowns for her as well.
I wanted to say hello in between gluing.
We are having lovely Fall weather here, perfect for Thanksgiving. I can't believe it will be here next week.
Have a wonderful day, whatever you are doing.
Chat again soon.
Love,
Rosemary
PS, the Branching Out came from my friend Holly. Her comment to the woodland crown was, that I was really branching out!
