Vintage Paper Fair

Hi all. Hope you had a nice weekend, and a very nice Valentine's Day!
I went to a Vintage Paper Fair. I had never been to one before, I didn't even know there was such a thing. I can't even remember where I had picked up the ad for it. It was months ago, and I had it on my bulletin board for the longest time. I remember telling my husband that is what I wanted to do on Valentine's Day. So we did.
It was at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. It was quite small, but there was more paper than you could ever go through in your life. Boxes, tables, floors, just covered with ephemera. Post cards, travel, magazines, tickets, programs, cards, matchbooks, Valentines, photos, stamps, anything paper related. It was exhausting going through everything. I'm sure I didn't see half of what was there. A lady told me some people spend their entire time at just one booth going through every postcard.
I was there for 2 hours and that was enough for me. After the paper extravaganza, we ventured down the road to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. We got there rather late for a flea market, plus it was 88 yesterday in Pasadena. Extremely hot for February, but crazy Southern California. This is what happens at least once every winter. Anyway I got nothing at the Flea Market except an old clock face for a project.
As you can see from the pictures, I got some great paper at the fair. A McCall's from 1927 very cool, and it just so happens to have Alice in Wonderland on the cover.
I got a few cute postcards including this great Halloween one for my Halloween collection. That was the most expensive item that I bought, the rest were rather reasonable. It was really fun for me to look through all the old photos etc. My husband was very patient, and let me look as long as I wanted. He went through very fast, then sat down to read while I shopped. He did enjoy the flea market. We both love the Rose Bowl. We ended up our Valentine's Day, having dinner with Amanda, Joe and Jake. A perfect way to end our day.
So enjoy the photos of my paper finds.
Have a great week!
Chat again soon.
Love,
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary,

How wonderful to go to a Paper Fair.
I love everything you got especially the old McCalls pattern from 1927.
Glad that you had a special day for Valentines.

I was there, too--first time. I was overwhelmed with the amount of stuff there was to look at and ended up leaving with just a few postcards to use for upcoming wedding projects. I was hoping to get some great photos, but I got scolded at the first booth!

I'll be bookmarking your blog!

Wow, I didn't know about Paper Fairs either. And yes, it was warm yesterday, so I went for a long bike ride. You got some great looking goodies. Take care, Martha

Fantastic! We run a community forum about postcard collecting. Could someone who attended this Vintage Paper Fair please stop by and tell our readers about the show? Thank you

Rosemary,
I was told by the booth owner that that was how people steal designs. Yikes! I didn't linger at her booth long after that.

I did get some pics for my super easy diy save-the-date project at ixoxopretty.com.

I'd love to feature your work and images next Monday if that's okay.

I wish one of those would come through Texas (or maybe they do and I just don't know it). I would be in absolute heaven. And your hubby is so sweet...mine would be happy if there where old books that he could look at! :D You found some great things and how fun to see how the Alice crown started out! :D
