Crowns, Tiaras, and Fences!

I am a little obsessed with crowns and tiaras.
I think of them as royal art. So after talking with a friend the other day about making paper crowns, I came up with this.

Well kind of. We were looking for templates online, which we couldn't find any. Well not unless you want a simple child's crown for a birthday party. So I emailed Donna O'Brien of The Ribboned Crown. Of course she would know what to do. Well duh!!! She suggested looking at the Crowns & Tiaras book by Kerri Judd and Danyel Montecinos.

I actually have the book, and didn't even think to look at it, because we were thinking templates.
Well, if you just look at the pictures you get inspired. If you haven't seen this book, it's a lot of fun, as well as great eye candy!!!

So after cutting, gluing, folding, glittering etc. Here is the crown I came up with.

I also wanted to show you this cute little fence I got at an after Christmas sale.
It came from a store in my town called Canfield and Persons. It was 60% off!!
It is made of twigs and has really great moss all over it. I thought you could use it any time of year. I guess I am all about bringing the outdoors in these days. Maybe I am already wishing for Spring.

Now here is a view of my armoire that holds my pretties in my office/studio. See the Crowns & Tiaras book in the back. (You know, the one I didn't think to look in, until Donna told me to)
If you haven't been to Donna's blog, you should go now. She has a beautiful blog full of lovely stuff. She is a really great artist. www.donnaobrien.typepad.com/

I hope you enjoy the pictures! Oh yeah, my friend is still thinking about making one.

Have a royal day!!!

Rosemary

Your crown is wonderful and I've enjoyed all the pictures. For some reason, making some has been in my mind the past three days so your post is inspiring me further. I'll have to get that book.

That little fence is adorable and I like your idea of using it at other times than just Christmas.

What could be better - tiaras and fences! I love the new tiara, it's beautiful. And, I love the book. I have it and keep saying one day I'm going to get going on making a tiara. Have you seen her crown in the new Sommerset Magazine made with chicken wire? It's adorable.

Great crown, I really like your color choices.

Your little fence reminded me of the fairy garden supplies I saw at Summer's Past Farms last time I had the chance to visit on a San Diego trip. Here's a link to some of the things they had in their shop:
http://www.summerspastfarms.com/fairygardens.htm

If you ever visit that area, it's one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon - shopping, drinking tea on the terrace, wandering the gardens. I'm betting it would be your cuppa tea as well.
