Crowns, Tiaras, and Fences!

I am a little obsessed with crowns and tiaras.
I think of them as royal art. So after talking with a friend the other day about making paper crowns, I came up with this.

Well kind of. We were looking for templates online, which we couldn't find any. Well not unless you want a simple child's crown for a birthday party. So I emailed Donna O'Brien of The Ribboned Crown. Of course she would know what to do. Well duh!!! She suggested looking at the Crowns & Tiaras book by Kerri Judd and Danyel Montecinos.

I actually have the book, and didn't even think to look at it, because we were thinking templates.
Well, if you just look at the pictures you get inspired. If you haven't seen this book, it's a lot of fun, as well as great eye candy!!!

So after cutting, gluing, folding, glittering etc. Here is the crown I came up with.

I also wanted to show you this cute little fence I got at an after Christmas sale.
It came from a store in my town called Canfield and Persons. It was 60% off!!
It is made of twigs and has really great moss all over it. I thought you could use it any time of year. I guess I am all about bringing the outdoors in these days. Maybe I am already wishing for Spring.

Now here is a view of my armoire that holds my pretties in my office/studio. See the Crowns & Tiaras book in the back. (You know, the one I didn't think to look in, until Donna told me to)
If you haven't been to Donna's blog, you should go now. She has a beautiful blog full of lovely stuff. She is a really great artist. www.donnaobrien.typepad.com/

I hope you enjoy the pictures! Oh yeah, my friend is still thinking about making one.

Have a royal day!!!

Finished!!

Hi,
Hope you are all having a good Tuesday!

I have finished my 21 boxes. Yay!! It was a lot all at once. I think next go around I will only make maybe 10 at a time. 21 was a little crazy.

Now I can start on the next project.

I have several birthday cards to make, and I would also like to make my aunt a birthday present. She is going to be 80 next month. She loves parties, so every year she throws herself a big birthday party. Even though 80 is a big one, it doesn't matter to her. Every birthday is a reason to have a party. (She is a young 80) You would never think she was 80. I will have to take pictures at the party, so you can see.

Well, I just wanted to update, and check in with all of my blog friends.

Happy Tuesday!!

Up To My Elbows In Glitter!!!

I Hope you are all have a lovely Sunday!!

I am up to my elbows in glitter, glue, paper, ink, boxes and fun.

I have been working on more boxes for my friend Barbara's shop.

This is why I have been a little lax this weekend about blogging. It is a process.
Lots of cutting, gluing, glittering, folding and waiting. If we didn't need to wait for glue to dry our projects would probably go a lot faster. Good things come to those who wait. I think that's how it goes.

I started some Valentine boxes, and they are turning out nicely.

So this is how my Sunday is going.

It is raining and cold today, so it is a good day to stay inside and create.

Vintage index cards from my friend Margo. Love these!!

Thanks Margo!!

Happy Sunday!!

Nests and Birds, Birds and Nests!!

On this third day of January, it is dreary, cold and we are waiting for a rain storm.

So I thought it would be fun to look at some of my birds and nests. I have many. I seem to be collecting more and more nests lately.

Most of the birds and nests came from my friend Barbara's most adorable shop, Garden Memories. She always has a bird or a nest I cannot seem to resist.

(Click on any picture to enlarge)
Barbara even has sparkly eggs to put in the nests.

I know I have shown this teapot once before, but I thought it went well with today's theme.

TJ Maxx, you gotta love it.

Back to Garden Memories, this sparkle nest and bird use to live there, now they live with me.

This one came from the Ventura Flea Market. $4.00. The next Ventura Flea Market is scheduled for Feb. 3, if anyone in Southern California is interested.

I love zinc and lead items, so when I saw this guy, I had to buy him.
Another beautiful nest from Garden Memories. If you want to visit Garden Memories go to www.gardenmemoriesgifts.com/ I believe Barbara will soon have a shopping site.
I hope you are all having a wonderful first week on the new year.

Christmas Day And The Day After!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day!!

We had a lovely time at my daughter's house.
This was her first Christmas as a married woman.

She made a really great Italian meal for us. It was delicious. This is Max, one of her 4 cats. He is the biggest cat that I have ever seen.

Max really liked the wrapping paper. She made a yummy cake for dessert. She got to use all of her new bake ware. (Wedding presents)

I took these pictures with my new camera that I got from Santa, aka my husband. It's the cutest little tiny red Kodak 8.2 mega pixels. So I have to practice using it.

Now here it is the day after Christmas, and what comes in the mail??? A package from Louise at http://beachyscapecodcupboard.blogspot.com/
I won her giveaway. (My first time winning anything) It all came in this huge stocking.

Everything was wrapped so cute in pink and green.

Look at all of the treasures she sent me. It was so sweet of her. Thank you so much Louise!!!

It was so much fun to get a package the day after the big day.

How cute is this stuff??

Have a wonderful evening!
