Remodel Update!!

Still working people!!!

I have been painting all week. Walls, vanity, woodwork etc. Now I am waiting for the carpet guy.
You can see in the mirror the ugly blue carpet we have had since we moved in. It was in great condition, but blue, not a fan!!

As you can see the vanity is starting to shape up. I have finished antiquing the doors.
So next week we should have some afters to show you.

In the meantime, have a great weekend!!

Busy Busy!!

Happy Monday!!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post, or visit all of your blogs lately.

Still working on my bedroom/bathroom remodel. This week, I am doing all of the painting.

I am painting the bathroom, vanity, and the bedroom. I took a week off from my artwork in order to concentrate on painting. My husband is getting anxious to use our beautiful new shower. I am working as fast as I can honey. He has been great, living with the mess for the last couple of weeks.

Anyway, on Saturday Mark and I went up to Carpinteria, not only to beat the heat, but to attend the Paris Flea Market. You have heard me speak of it before. It's a small flea market, but great vendors with beautiful things for sale. I forgot to bring my camera, but you can check it out on a previous post.

I bought this beautiful red and white all down chair. I had a chair in this corner for years, but it wasn't down, and it was time for a change. The color fit in nicely too. I got a fairly good deal for down. I posted my old one on Craigslist this morning. In case you are wondering, that is the sun reflecting on the chair.

It was fun to find something, I wasn't actually looking for. It was just one of those things. I can't wait to curl up and read a good book.

After the flea market, we went to Garden Memories in Ventura to visit my friend Barbara. I usually visit her every Saturday to bring her new things I've made for her shop. Anyway, she had these beautiful new busts. Did I have to buy one? Yes I did. I think she will look beautiful in my new bathroom. (Once it's finished) She had them in white and moss. I could hardly decide which one to buy. I think the moss one would look wonderful in the garden. I think she is kind of magical looking. Kind of like you unearthed her from a 100 year old sleep, in a Kingdom far away. ( I think the paint is getting to me)

Have a wonderful week, and I will visit you all when I can.

Love,

Rosemary
Here is the old chair, thought you might like to see it. I had a custom slipcover made for it about 9 years ago. It's held up very well.

Flea Market Finds from Ventura!!

Hi all!!
Happy Monday!!

Bathroom remodel update.
The tile was grouted today, and the new toilet installed.
Still have fixtures to get installed, and painting to be done.
Will post pictures soon.

Yesterday was the Ventura Flea Market. Just thought you might like to see my finds.

I got this great old chandelier. I may have it rewired, and put it over my kitchen table.
I loved the look of it. Cost was $40.

I have seen these old door knockers. I really think they are cute. It's the first time I found one at the flea market. It's cast iron, and very heavy. I like the ring on the finger. Cost $10

I got this old white birdhouse for $15. I hope you are all having a great day!!

New Doors for my daughter!

Happy Thursday!!!

My daughter's new house, had old doors from 1978. Check out the color of that glass with hummingbirds. One was even cracked.

She told my husband and I she would like updated, Spanish type doors. So we got to work.

We had her order 2 speakeasies online. My husband built an insert, and I stained them. He took out the glass, which was not an easy task.

The glass was glued in, and he had to chip away wood moulding around it. They finally came out, after chipping and chipping. Here is the updated doors. We also added 48 Calvos. Those are the nail heads. I think you can click on pictures to enlarge.

Here is a view of the inside. Those bars open up the little window, so you can peek out.

We priced some new doors like these, and they would have cost several thousand dollars. Now she wants to paint the handles black. That will happen soon.

My bathroom remodel is still going on. It's looking good already. I will be posting pictures soon.

Have a great day!!

Rosemary

A Wee Bit of Green!

Happy Tuesday!!

Last week we did red, this week is green. See Sadie Olive/Sara. http://sadieolive.typepad.com/

I only have time for a small post today, so I thought I would show you one of my favorite pieces of chippy paint.

I got this piece at the Ventura flea market for $10. I use it next to my computer to hold things I need close by.

I added a few flowers from Garden Memories. The lovely Barbara always attaches a pretty flower to your package. It's like getting a present, every time you shop.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel. More about that later.

Rosemary

Halloween in June

My friend Martha at http://mjornaments.blogspot.com/ was having Halloween in June today.
I decided to play along, and show you what I made the other night, using one on Karen's great graphics. AKA the graphics fairy. http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/ She had this cat on her blog. I decided to make a Halloween decoration. If you can't read the tag, it says Scaredy Cat.

I love Halloween, and have already been hard at work creating some new things for Garden Memories.
If you remember last year, I was Cottage of the month for October. Jennifer Grey's site www.theoldpaintedcottage.com/ You can see all of my vintage Halloween decorations. If you have time, check out Martha's blog to see her new line of spooky Halloween charms.

Hope you have a great Monday!

Porch Party and Red!!!

Hello!!
Today Rhondi, of http://rhondisrosecoloredglasses.blogspot.com/ is hosting a porch party.
You can post pictures of your porch, or if you don't have a porch, post your dream porch.
Here is this part of Southern California, we don't really have those nice big southern porches.
So here is my little tiny front porch. The other pictures are in and around the front porch.

They also qualify for red week as well.
I faux painted my front porch step to resemble Mexican Sautillo tiles. It had been just a plan gray cement step. We also madeover our front door. My husband added the wood pieces, and I painted. We added the calvos (Nail Heads) and the Speak Easy (Grate) So I hope you get around to all of the porches today.

Have a fun day!

Rosemary

My husband got this picture for me a couple of Christmas's ago.
It sits on my mantle, and I love it.
An old red book, and my tiny vintage trophy collection.
Part of my armoire in my office. Thanks to Sara for getting us all into red this week.

Ruby Tuesday!!

More Red views today!!

Sara's red week continues.
This is my favorite lamp.
The shade was a big spurge, but it was one of those things that you have to have when you see it. A French cookbook.

A view out my back door.
A little garden view.
A corner of my bookshelf.
I hope you are all enjoying red week, as I am.

Have a great day!

It's A Red Day!

Hi all! Hope you had a nice weekend!

Sara, from http://sadieolive.typepad.com/ Is having a red week, this week. So I decided to take some pictures of red things around my house.

I do like the color red!!

I have a red wall in my living room. We painted it several years ago as part of the HGTV show we were on, Weekend Warriors. (Something you probably didn't know)

A pretty red glass pitcher that I got from my mom.

A cute little red chair, I have high up on my hutch. Right now it's holding a silver teapot. The teapot is a favorite of mine. I bought it on a trip to San Francisco. It is from the cutest shop called the Brown Dirt Cowboy on Polk St.

This chippy red shelf/cupboard I bought from my friend Karen. (One of my flea market friends)

A red teapot I always keep on the stove. (I have a cup of decaf English tea every night)
So if you are in a red mood, take a look at Sara's blog. Jamie from Simply Me Art also has some red on her blog as well. http://simplymeart.blogspot.com/

Have a great day!!
Love,
Rosemary
