My $10.00 Hutch

As mentioned in a previous post, I picked up this hutch at a
garage sale a couple of weeks ago, for only $10.00.

The picture on the right, is the one, as I was working on it. It had some really ugly fabric in the doors before. I ripped it out, and primed and painted the inside, a sage green color. I did the rest in a cream. I had to replace a few of the glass handles. I added some chicken wire to the upper doors. I thought about glass, but didn't want to pay more for glass, than I did for the whole entire hutch.

I am very excited to be organizing all of my art supplies into one spot.
It's amazing what you can get for $10.00.

I hope you are all having a nice weekend, and a nice Father's Day!
We had brunch in the garden this morning. It was my husband Mark of course, and our daughter Amanda, her fiance Joe and my Mom.
I made broccoli and cheddar quiche, as well as mushroom and cheddar. Fruit salad, bagels, ham, and turkey sausage. We also had cranberry and blueberry teacakes from the Savory Bakery in Ventura. Coffee and mimosas too!

Talk to you all again soon!

Funny how cute that looks at your house. I have one almost just like it sitting out in a shed. Actually I used mine for years and years. And have been thinking of how I'd like to redo it for the upteenth time.
Yours turned out great...what a bargain!

Hi Rosemary!
Thank you so much for voting at Fred Falr for my daughter!
I was wondering if you put a finish on your cupboard?
I like how it looks shinny as if it where lead paint , but Not. It looks FABULOUS! What nice place for your supplies!
With Kindess,
Mary

Just love it, Rosemary! The chicken wire idea is fabulous, and it looks much better than glass would, I think. Glad to hear you also had a wonderful Father's Day!

What a great hutch and a great deal! And your hard work paid of it is really nice!My husband loves quiche,I have to make it at least
once a month.Sadly the 6 year old does not like it,even though she likes everything that goes into it.
Oh well! I wish I lived near you I would love to go out and shop with you!

Rosemary,
what a find! You have totally re-vamped that thing! What a nice piece to hold your craft supplies, very organized, pretties behind the wire and the waiting to be pretties behind the doors.
Awesome!

The chicken wire doors are too cute! That and the green interior really MAKES the piece.

The fact that you got it for 10.00 is just icing on the cake.

Bravo! Great hutch redo!

What a great unit for organising all your art stuff. I remember them when I was a child. We used to call them food safes.

Rosemary, I just saw your comment on another blog about collecting Halloween items. We, too, have been collecting vintage Halloween for years (thank goodness we got some things before the prices escalated!). You and I would have so much fun together (come on, October!!)

This is just amazing Rosemary!! Love your color choices. I have an old armoire that I have been wanting to paint and add chicken wire to for a long time now. I think this was just the inspiration I needed!
